My last post was in late May, and there have been some exciting updates since then!
One of them is... I've graduated! I am now done with my Master's in Public Administration! My focus was non-profit management and international development. Two years of hard work is over, and I'm not going to lie; it's just nice to be done with it. It's been glorious to have some downtime and relax--get rid of a few textbooks I might not really care to see again (sorry, economics!)--and do things like read books for fun!
Regarding Peace Corps stuff, I was curious about the timeline on reviewing my medical documents. I inquired, and the nurse took a look at all of the documents I submitted, then assigned a couple of follow up tasks as well as some things that ended up merely being clarifications of some previously submitted information, or things I had information from my previous doctor's appointment. Luckily, I was able to snag an appointment quite quickly with my doctor and ended up getting all of the information I needed, submitting it last Friday.
I am so pleased to share that as of today (Monday), I officially have medical and dental clearance to go! Now it's just a matter of waiting until September! It feels so surreal and I'm so excited. It's slowly starting to hit me, and I'm so looking forward to it. I've already got a playlist of music I had in Macedonian, and - especially as it's World Cup time and many are focusing on soccer/football, I thought to share a special favorite of mine.
Toše Proeski, the singer in the below video, was one of the most popular singers to come out of Macedonia. He recorded songs in Macedonian as well as Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, collaborating with many popular artists from throughout the Balkans. Dubbed the 'Elvis Presley of Balkans,' he was popular across national, religious and ethnic differences. He was also an active humanitarian, serving as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador as well as actively supporting causes in his own communities. Unfortunately, he died in a car accident in 2007 at the age of 26. Macedonia even declared a national day of mourning. He had a beautiful voice and is one of my favorite singers from Macedonia -- I'll share some more of his songs later, as he also did a variety of traditional Macedonian songs in addition to contemporary. I hope you enjoy this one!

| Some of my plunder from the recent independent bookstore day adventure... enough to keep me busy for a while! |
